About Us

The Breathe for Britt Foundation is a registered 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2008 by Brian Kane in memory of his Goddaughter, Brittany F. Braun. The mission of this foundation is to honor Brittany’s life and her fun-loving spirit by providing joy, hope, and comfort to individuals facing the daily challenge of living life with cystic fibrosis, the inherited disease that shortened Brittany’s life. Currently, BFB assists individuals and their families who are treated at the Cystic Fibrosis Center at Cohen Children's Medical Center (formally known as Schneider Children’s Hospital ).

Britt looked at life as a journey and a series of challenges. She lived her few years with purpose and determination; her charisma and positive energy were an inspiration to all who knew her. Perhaps most endearing was Brittany’s loving spirit and generosity, always sharing what little she had with the other children she had taken under her wing at both Schneider Children’s Hospital and Stony Brook University Hospital. Brittany passed away in April 2008 at age 14, having touched all who knew her. She remains an inspiration to all she left behind and it is in her honor that the Breathe for Britt foundation continues her passion for giving.
